Thermal video of stainless steel milling
Cutting stainless steel on a mill can be a bit tricky because it is prone to work hardening. To prevent work hardening while machining, a high feed rate is used, causing the heat to be carried away with the chips. This video shows the heat being carried away from the part. Notice after the cut how cool the part is relative to the chips.
